About the CEC

We’re a community of students who explore, learn about, and act on contemporary environmental issues on campus and in the Austin area. We welcome diverse interests, ideas, and perspectives as we grow together to become effective environmental change-makers now and in the future.

Environmental Justice Collective

The Environmental Justice Collective hosts a series of educational workshops designed to introduce UT students to environmental justice and its critical role in environmentalism.

Green Events

The Green Events Project Team provides free consulting services to student organizations with the goal of reducing waste and educating our community about sustainability and environmental awareness.

Green Greeks

Since 2013, the Green Greeks Project Team has been working with UT’s Greek life to promote sustainability practices and programs at UT and in the Austin community through popular annual events such as Round Up.

Half-Pint Prairie

Half-Pint Prairie is an educational model of a Blackland Prairie next to the Student Services Building. We seek to educate students about the loss of prairies and the ecoystem services they provide.

Microfarm

The CEC Microfarm is the University of Texas at Austin’s first student-run, on-campus farm. We strive to practice only organic and sustainable farming techniques in our managed farm and community garden.

Trash to Treasure

Since 2005, Trash to Treasure has diverted thousands of pounds of reusable items from going to the landfill through a series of donation drives and sales held throughout the year.
