Some of the CEC’s Project Teams need volunteers to help with their specific goals and programs! Below is information on how you can volunteer as an individual, or with a group or organization, with different CEC teams. You don’t have to be a CEC member to take advantage of these opportunities to get involved in environmental action.
Green Greeks generally hosts a few West Campus Clean-Up events every school year. Anyone is welcome to help beautify West Campus by removing litter and other pollutants after large party weekends. Breakfast tacos are typically provided, along with knowing that you’ve made an impact in one of UT’s largest student communities.
Information about the next West Campus Clean-Up will be posted here when it is available. In the meantime, you can contact Green Greeks for any inquiries.
Individual and Group Volunteering Sessions are offered every Sunday of the Spring 2018 semester from 10 am to noon. Individuals are also welcome at these sessions. Groups must register in advance.
A lot goes into maintaining a farm, even a microfarm. Volunteers can expect to help with a range of tasks, including planting, harvesting, composting, weeding, mulching, beautification, and more. Volunteer work at the farm helps support our mission of being an educational community resource. Sessions are about 75% volunteer work and 25% education and discussion. In addition to farm work, we’ll spend some time showing you and your group around the farm and discussing issues relating to the quality, justice, and biology of food.
Trash to Treasure
Trash to Treasure hosts several sales every semester that need volunteer help. The team also needs volunteer help with sorting inventory at the storage area near campus.
Information about any volunteer opportunities will be posted here when it is available. In the meantime, you can contact Trash to Treasure for any inquiries or to schedule an inventory-sorting workday for your group.
