Use Sustainable Transportation
Find out how much you spend each year driving - it may surprise you!

Free bus use for all UT students and employees
Austin's extensive bus system is free for UT faculty and staff, including all Capital Metro buses and UT shuttles. Save parking fees; ride the bus instead!
Share your parking permit
You can register more than one person per parking permit and for each person, Parking and Transportation will discount from $50 up to the cost of the permit. Look into it and save money!
Austin CarShare
Another option is to get rid of your car altogether! You don't need one with Austin CarShare, a nonprofit program that allows drivers to reserve a car for a fixed rate ($4/hr with a $10 monthly membership fee). They have cars near campus for UT students (21 and up) and faculty/staff, enabling you to borrow a car instead of owning one. Stop worrying about car payments, insurance payments, repairs, or where to park the car - join CarShare instead!
Transportation incentives for UT employees
Bus and bike commuters can get a UT Share Pass, which provides discounted garage entry, for those occasions when they need to bring their cars. UT also encourages carpooling (where someone drives a personal vehicle) and vanpooling (where you ride in a Capital Metro van specifically loaned to your group). The system is flexible, so you can drive your own car on occasion, or get a guaranteed ride home in case of emergency. There are also great incentives, including reduced parking permit costs and a free UT Share Pass for when you need to drive. For more information, visit http://www.utexas.edu/parking/transportation/carpool/
Reduce your carbon emissions
At DriveNeutral, you can calculate your carbon emissions from driving, reduce them, and neutralize your carbon footprint by helping fund large-scale sustainability projects. Go towww.driveneutral.org
Electric lawnmower discount program
This program runs every year; you can qualify to receive a discount on an electric mower, which helps reduce pollution (gas mowers are extremely polluting and inefficient). For more information please visit www.cleanairforce.org
