Trash to Treasure 2012
The Trash to Treasure Donation Drive is upon us! As you wrap up finals and move out May 4th through May 15th, be sure to take unwanted clothing and household items to a Trash to Treasure donation bin located inside Jester East, Jester West, San Jacinto, Duren, Kinsolving, Whitis Court, Littlefield, or Carothers. Your donations will relieve the amount of waste going into landfills and will contribute to the annual Trash to Treasure campus wide garage sale in the fall. Additionally, the Campus Environmental Center is looking for volunteers to empty the collection bins and sort the clothing throughout this time frame. Volunteers get a free CEC t-shirt and first dibs on Trash to Treasure items. If you are interested in volunteering, contact the email below.
Trash to Treasure is a huge goods recycling program run by the Campus Environmental Center. Each year we collect students' unwanted belongings as they move out in May, store them over the summer, and recycle them in a huge garage sale after school starts in August. Trash to Treasure provides three-fold benefits: thousands of pounds of stuff is diverted from the waste stream, students can buy cool, cheap goods for their residences, and the money raised supports campus environmental programs, like recycling, litter reduction, and energy conservation. All items not sold are given to charity.
