Earth Week is Coming Up!April 03, 2012
Every spring semester the Campus Environmental Center and the Events Committee puts on Earth Week. Earth Week consists of different events sponsored by different CEC committees on the week surrounding Earth Day. Here are our scheduled events:
Think Green. Eat Green.
Sustainable Food on Campus
When: April 19th from 10am-2pm
Where: West Mall
What: Have you ever wondered where your food comes from or how its made? And if you did know, would you eat it? Well, it turns out that the food you buy on campus is not all created equal. Some vendors on campus are taking steps to make sure their food is local, organic, healthy, and sustainably grown. As for some of the other campus vendors, not so much. To find out where your food comes from and if it is sustainable, come to CEC's "Think Green. Eat Green." that will be held at the West Mall Rally Space on Thursday, April 19 from 10am-2pm. Wouldn't you like to know what you're eating?
Movie Night: Forks Over Knives
When: April 19th from 6pm-8:30pm
Where: UT Concho Community Garden, 2108 Concho St.
What: Come celebrate the spring season with us at the UT Concho Community Garden and watch Forks over Knives, a documentary that examines the profound claim that most, if not all, of the degenerative diseases that afflict us can be controlled, or even reversed, by rejecting animal-based and processed foods. It's a great opportunity to check out what we have growing at the garden and to stay informed on the many issues surrounding food, the environment, and society.
West Campus Cleanup
When: April 22nd from 10am-12pm
Where: Meet us at the fountain in West Mall
What: On Earth Day (April 22nd) help us clean up West Campus! We will be picking up litter and any trash in order to help keep West Campus a great place to live. Everything from supplies, tshirts, and free breakfast will be provided!
Orange Bike Bikapalooza!
When: April 23rd from 8am-3pm
Where: Gregory Plaza
