My name is Emily Mixon and I am a fourth year here at UT majoring in Plan II and Geography with a focus in sustainability. As Director of the CEC I provide support for all the staff members in their ongoing campaigns and events throughout the year, as well as work closely with staff, faculty and student leaders to foster a culture of sustainability across campus through events and educational campaigns. I am excited to have the opportunity to work with interesting and creative people across the university for this common cause, and I’m optimistic about our ability to make UT even more of a leader in the campus sustainability movement. When I’m not in the CEC or doing course work I enjoy hiking, camping, reading good fiction, mentoring a sixth grader at KIPP Austin College Prep, serving with the Orange Jackets, and having adventures in, around, and beyond the Texas Hill Country!
Concho Community Garden Assitant Director
My name is Caroline Harroun, and I am a second-year Biology/UTeach student. I am the Gardening Program Assistant for CEC. I help manage UT Concho Community Garden with Brittany, Gardening Assistant Director. We provide a place where people can grow their own food and learn about planting, compost, and much mre. We just started a new education program, Little Gardeners, which we hope will expand, so we can share our joy for gardening with even more people. Outside of CEC, I enjoy flying airplanes, drawing, teaching and running with my awesome doggies!
Tailgate Recycling Coordinator
My name is Lauren Fedele and I’m a third year undergraduate Urban Studies and Geography major with a minor in Spanish. In addition to my interests in the environment and urban development, I love to travel, watch movies, and draw. As the Tailgate Recycling Coordinator I help create and manage recycling programs for athletic events with an emphasis on football games in the fall.
Green Events Coordinator
My name is Wesley, and I'm an undergraduate chemical engineering major graduating May 2014. After UT, I plan to attend graduate school for chemical engineering and conduct research in the biocompatability of implaneted or integrated devices. As a Green Events coordinator for CEC, I consult with student organizations to design their events to be sustainable and environmentally friendly.
Students for a Sustainable Campus Assistant Director
I am a third year studying government and environmental science with a focus in geography. In my free time I enjoy camping, hiking, and fishing, as well as reading fiction and watching movies. As Students for a Sustainable Campus Assistant Director I serve as a liaison between students and the administration of the University, working to facilitate conversations and to enact student-supported sustainability initatives. After UT I hope to work in either the private or public sector on issues related to water resources.
Resource Conservation Coordinator
I am a 3rd year Plan II Honors and IRG major, concentrating in Environmental Studies with minors in French and European Studies. As Resource Conservation Coordinator my responsibilities are to find ways to engage the student body in resource conservation, educate the UT community about sustainability, and work with other campus entiites to streamline and imporve resource management. When I'm not saving the planet I enjoy acting, movie-watching, and playing with my friends' pet snakes.
Green Greeks Coordinator
My name is Abz Zeitler, and I am one of the Green Greeks Coordinators for this upcoming year. I will be working with UT fraternities and sororities towards creating a more sustainable and "green" environment in west campus. I am currently a sophmore Public Relations major and BDP: Nonprofits & and Social Entreprenuership student. I hope to join Peace Corps after college. On campus I am also in Greek life, a Camp Texas counselor, SFL:360 member, and UTSG.
My name is Jeanne Eckhart, and I am the Graduate Senior Assistant for CEC. Also, I am a first year graduate student in the Energy and Earth Resources program. I am interested in a wide topic of prominent energy issues that affect all of our lives. In CEC I assist the advisor, director, and committees with the logistics and planning of current projects and future events. It is fun to see the events and projects come together after all of that hard work! For me, it is an exciting time to be in CEC because there are some many amazing environmental positive changes happening at the university that CEC gets to be a part of!
My name is Jennifer Hobson, and I am the advisor for the Campus Enviromental Center. I have Bachelor's degrees in Political Science and Geography from the University of Florida and a Master Degree in Human Dimensions of Natural Resources from Colorado State University and El Colegio de la Frontera Sur in Chiapas Mexico. While at the University of Florida, I was an intern at the Office of Sustainability working on an energy efficiency behavior change campaign. I have also interned for The Nature Conservancy as part of their Climate Change team, the Arthur R. Marshall Foundation an Everglades education nonprofit, and have had the opportunity to work with the US National Park Service on their public-private partnerships in protected areas workshop and INFAP in Mexico to identify landslide risk in an organic coffee producing region of Chiapas, Mexico.
